About us
Calm, honest practice for curious young thinkers
Thinkling is an iPhone and iPad app that helps children in kindergarten to 5th grade get comfortable with the CogAT’s nine question types, with original questions, a friendly voice and an explanation for every mistake.

What we believe
Gifted and talented tests such as the CogAT ask young children to reason in ways they may never have practiced: picture analogies, number patterns on a bead abacus, a folded paper with holes punched through it. We think every child deserves to meet those formats calmly, before test day, in a way that feels like play.
- Short and calm beats long and stressful. A few minutes a day, with a friendly voice and gentle feedback, never a buzzer.
- Explanations matter more than answers. When a child gets something wrong, Thinkling shows why, with pictures and voice, and the same idea comes back later in a fresh question.
- Honesty with parents. We never predict a CogAT score or percentile, never promise admission to a program, and say clearly what practice can and cannot do.
- Privacy by design. No ads, no tracking, no accounts. A child’s practice stays on the family’s device.
How every Thinkling question is made
Thinkling doesn’t use copied test items. Every question is original, written in the same formats as the nine CogAT question types, and checked to have exactly one right answer. Questions are fresh every time and never repeated.
Questions for kindergarten to 2nd grade are read aloud by a friendly voice, as the teacher reads them on the test at those levels, so pre-readers can practice on their own. Children in grades 3 to 5 get written verbal questions and number formats, as on the test.
How we write our guides
Our guides are written for busy parents and kept to what we can stand behind:
- Facts we can verify. Test structure, levels, question counts and score types come from the publishers’ public descriptions of their tests. If we aren’t sure of something, we leave it out.
- No invented numbers. No made-up statistics, studies, cutoffs, testimonials or reviews, and no score predictions.
- Your school decides. Gifted-program rules, cutoffs and dates vary by district, so we tell you which questions to ask your school instead of guessing.
- Original practice, clearly labeled. Sample questions on this site come from Thinkling’s own engine, in the same formats as the test. They are never real test items.
- Kept current. Every guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot a mistake, email contato@meagiliza.app and we’ll fix it.
